After a whirlwind week that went by way too quickly – we have made it home! Between WPPI, visiting family and friends, & My Birthday I am exhausted but alive!

WPPI was amazing! I will do a post on Wednesday about my experience – but I will say now that it did not disappoint.

Now it’s time to play with the dogs, finish unpacking and tackle the mound of laundry I brought back with me.

26 Years and Counting

February 24th, 2011

Yes…today I turn 26. Every year in February I can’t help but take a look at my life. I have been blessed by having a very full life for my years. I have had the opportunity to travel quite a bit and live abroad; I have owned a home – kinda; I have lost everything [...]

Yes…today I turn 26. Every year in February I can’t help but take a look at my life. I have been blessed by having a very full life for my years. I have had the opportunity to travel quite a bit and live abroad; I have owned a home – kinda; I have lost everything but I have gained more; and I have lived through numerous ups and down – all of which has shaped who I am today.

And We Are Off!

February 18th, 2011

I woke up early this morning – frankly I couldn’t sleep. I can never sleep the night before a trip. I packed our bags last night; double checked that we had everything; and placed them by the door. I am sad to leave my babies at home – yes those stinking dogs of ours. But [...]

I am sad to leave my babies at home – yes those stinking dogs of ours. But truth be told, I hate being away from them. But I know they will be fine with my in-laws. Still I hate leaving them.

I look forward to experiencing WPPI, seeing family & friends, and celebrating my birthday. I love Las Vegas – always have. It’s a city that treats us well every time we visit & we always look forward to being greeted by the neon lights.

Have a wonderful week everyone!

Even before I ever thought I would become a wedding photographer – back in my days where I focused mainly on travel and landscape photography – I wanted to attend WPPI. I just thought it would be so much fun to go to the trade show and listen to amazing photographers.

So this year I decided to make it happen. I am so excited! What do I expect to get out of it? I expect to meet amazing people; learn new things; and have fun. I am excited to see and hear those photographers whom I admire. I expect it to be over whelming and exciting – and honestly, I can’t wait!

Engagement Shoots: A Must

This is for all you Brides out there.

I strongly believe in Engagement shoots – yes I know I am a photographer so you may think “Well of course you do!” But hear me out on this one.

Why are they a must? If a couple is relaxed and comfortable in front of the camera then it will show in their pictures – which is good! If you are not comfortable in front of the camera (I know your out there – me included which is why I am behind the camera) then an engagement shoot will help with this.

There are 2 big reasons why engagement sessions are a great idea: (1) you get to be behind the camera & learn what it is like – so come wedding day you know what to expect and can be more relaxed (plus you get some great pictures of you and your honey); and (2) you get to know your photographer; how they work, their personality; and the photographer gets to know you! All this equals fun & relaxed wedding day photography!
