Working a “9-5″ type job has never settled with me. And I can honestly say that ever since I was of the working age I have never held down that type of job. That is not to say that I didn’t have a good work ethic – I pride myself in having a great work ethic & I give everything I can to whatever job happen to hold. I have worked as a waitress, as a bookkeeper, in a tanning salon, as a front desk clerk, and plenty others – but I only spent a year or two at each job & I often had a flexible work schedule to go around my college courses. But the reality of it is – I don’t like having the typical 9-5 type of job. Now I am not saying that having a 9-5 job is a bad thing – nothing of the sort – it just is not for me.

Why? I don’t know honestly. But I prefer to do things on my own level and with my own creative thinking. And I have always dreamed of being an entrepreneur (a word that I still cannot spell on my first try)!

This attitude stems from the environment that I grew up in. My parents never worked for anyone else – they were always their own boss and worked from home. I didn’t grow up like my friends having my dad or mom leave 5 days a week and go off to work. My parents always came up with fun and interesting ways to make their money. They were antique dealers; owned an ice cream shop; had a fencing business; and real estate has always played a big part.

So growing up in a family where my parents worked for themselves instilled the mind set that I can do the same thing for myself and be happy! Yes it is hard work but I am prepared and I am determined. I look at starting my photography business as a great adventure and it is something that I love doing! Yes, I will be working odd hours and will be logging in way more then 40-50 hours a week – but I love every minute of it.

I want to follow in my parents footsteps. So thank you mom and dad.
