I have the driest skin in the world! When I moved to Idaho in the middle of winter, my dry skin flared up even more!

While doing research (aka googling) ways to alleviate my dry skin – especially on my face, I came across a website dedicated to the Oil Cleansing Method. Basically, you wash your face with a mixture of oils to help break down the oil on your face and remove your makeup (works fabulous for waterproof eye makeup).

Here is my oil mixture and face washing routine:

Oil Mixture (1 day a week because Castor Oil is drying):
• 80% Extra Virgin Olive Oil (to cleanse and moisturize)
• 10% Tea Tree Oil (for its anti-bacterial properties)
• 10% Castor Oil (for black heads, oil, dirt, etc.)

Oil Mixture (3 days a week):
• 85% EVOO
• 15% Tea Tree Oil

Exfoliating Mixture (3 days a week):
• Raw Honey (to cleanse and moisturize)
• Mixture of baking soda and Steel cut oats (to cleanse and exfoliate)

It may take a few tries to come up with the perfect mixture for your skin – but this is what I find works best for my super dry skin.

First, I remove eye makeup with EVOO on a cotton ball. Then, I massage my face with my oil mixture for around a minute. During this time, I have a wash cloth soaking in hot water which I then gently place on my face until it cools down. Then, I soak it again and run all the oil, dirt, and makeup off of my face.

To exfoliate, I first rub raw honey on my face (the more you rub the warmer and easier it will be to spread), then I rub the baking soda/oatmeal mixture on my face. I then let this mask sit on my face for 5-10 minutes before rinsing with warm water.

Because my skin is so dry, I then use an oil mixture to moisturize (Jojoba oil, tea tree, and EVOO). My skin is so soft, clean, and glowing now! I Love it! I don’t think I will ever go back to commercial cleansing products for my face ever again!

I love collecting ideas and things that inspire me – ever since I was a child. I used to have folders of pages torn from my moms Home Decor Magazines; style inspiration torn from fashion magazines; and makeup looks that I would some day try. All these pages were put in neatly label folders – which were then put in a box – and when I finally moved overseas after college – most (except a few home decor and architecture pages) were finally thrown away.

That is why I L-O-V-E Pinterest! I can keep all of my inspiration neatly organized on boards – no more folders that are overflowing and (this is my favorite) no more Bookmarks on my computer that I can’t seem to keep organized or ever find again! In fact, when I opened my Pinterest to get a screen shot – I saw a new pin that I was quickly able to re-pin to my Studio Inspiration Board – see – soooo simple.
