It has been 6 months since I decided to start my business & 4 months since I shot my very first wedding. I have shot 3 weddings (1 on my own and 2 as a second), 3 family sessions, 3 engagement/couple sessions & 2 freelance sessions. 2011 is looking great with a number bookings and [...]

It has been 6 months since I decided to start my business & 4 months since I shot my very first wedding. I have shot 3 weddings (1 on my own and 2 as a second), 3 family sessions, 3 engagement/couple sessions & 2 freelance sessions. 2011 is looking great with a number bookings and inquiries.

When I first started 6 months ago where did I think I would be at the beginning of 2011? I’m not sure. I have told myself a million times over that this is a slow process – everyone has to start somewhere and I am on my way. I can honestly say that I am happy with the progress of my venture. I have set ambitious goals for 2011 and am working hard to achieve them.

I have been lucky enough to have some great photographers who have been providing an amazing amount of support and encouragement. It never ceases to amaze me!

I feel like photography is an ongoing learning experience – I will always be learning new things. 1 year from now, 5 years from now, 20 years of now I will still be asking questions, researching, and learning. That is one of the things I love about photography – you are never finished learning.

I am excited for what the year ahead holds.

PS: This picture was taken by a young boy after I finished shooting my first wedding. He was so interested in my camera and I had a great time showing him how to use it.

I find it difficult to write on my blog. Don’t get me wrong – there is a lot I can say and talk about. I love to talk! But I find it difficult to put it on my blog. On one hand I don’t feel like anyone would be interested in anything related to my life outside of photography – but on the other hand I would really like to open up & let people get to know me through my blog. But for some reason I am hesitant to take that step.

So I have decided that the only way to get over this is to just write. Whether it be about me or photography – just write. I want posting on my blog to become second nature. So I have decided that 3 days a week: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays I will post on my blog. Even if all I can do is post a picture – those will be my posting days. Hold me to it.

XOXO,
